Most
every commercial US cellular carrier provides cellular internet access,
so it is wise to comparison shop for the best prices and the best
speeds for your area.
Cellular internet
service can range in price from $50-$60 dollars a month for an
unlimited use plan. The cellular PCMCIA card or cellular usb card is
usually $50-$100 dollars. Occasionally, cellular providers offer
cellular PCMCIA cards or cellular usb adapters for free when you sign
up for a two year contract.

Some RV parks offer Wifi for their occupants. Many RV parks offer Wifi
at no cost, but most commonly there is a fee of $15-to $30 dollars a
month for this service. RV Park Wifi is very slow and unreliable in
most cases, so the intermediate to advanced internet user may want to
look elsewhere. Wifi internet access has the lowest cost of the three
methods to obtain internet access in your RV.
Satellite internet is another way to obtain internet access in your RV.
However, in my opinion satellite internet should be considered only as
a last resort if cellular internet or wifi is not available. This is
due to the extremely high cost of monthly access fees coupled with the
cost of equipment needed. Monthly fees for satellite internet could
range up to $100 dollars a month, and the equipment could run from
several hundred dollars to several thousand. Depending on the satellite
internet provider chosen, there may also be daily bandwith limitations.
Again, satellite should only be considered as an absolute last resort
if you cannot gain high speed internet access any other way.
Finally, there is Cellular Internet Access. Cellular internet access
can be as fast as a residential cable internet connection, or as slow
as dial up, depending on your location. Most often, unless you are far
away from civilization, the speed of cellular internet access should be
acceptable. You can check what the cellular internet speed should be at
a given location by visiting your cellular provider's coverage map
website.
When you sign
up for cellular internet access, you can choose to get a PCMCIA
cellular card that plugs into the PCMCIA slot on your laptop, or you
can choose to get a cellular card that plugs into the USB port on your
computer, as shown below.
For a college student, the internet is a resource that cannot be lived
without. Living in a RV means that unconventional methods of internet
access must be implemente, as your RV is not a fixed dwelling.
There are three major choices to consider when deciding on how you will
access the internet from your RV. They are Wifi, Satellite Internet,
and Cellular Internet. Most RV parks also permit you to obtain dial-up
internet, but I will not elaborate on it due to its slow speed.
