To view your internet connection status, as well as your MAC address and IP address, do the following:

1) From your Windows desktop, click on start->run. When the run window appears, type cmd and press enter

 

Your run window may look a bit different depending on your version of windows.

 

2) Upon pressing enter, you will be greeted with a black screen. Ignore the words on the black screen, just type "ipconfig/all" (without the quotes) and press enter. You should be greeted with a screen looking similar to this:

Here you can see your IP address, MAC address (physical address) and other connection properties. Keep in mind that if your computer is behind a router, the IP address shown will be your private IP address, to find your public IP address, you will need to go to What Is My IP to find out your internet IP address
