Windows Messenger, while annoying, may be necessary if you use remote assistance. Should you remove windows messenger, and find that you need it in the future, it can be downloaded from Microsoft .

1) If Windows Messenger is running, shut Windows Messenger down.

2) From the Windows Desktop, click Start->Run. When the run window appears, type:

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

The run window should look like this:

 

Press Enter and Windows Messenger will be removed.
